The Mortar Ridge Playground in Mernda is now open, giving new life to two former farmyard barns that have been transformed into unique picnic shelters for the community to enjoy. The playground also features a new flying fox and play equipment catering to a range of ages, creating more opportunities for active outdoor play. New pathways, landscaping, planting, a drinking fountain and an electric barbecue have further enhanced the reserve. The site also provides an entry point to the broader bunjil nganga Parkland Quarry Hills and trail network from Mortar Ridge Boulevard, making it easier for residents to explore and enjoy the surrounding open space.
This project received $200,000 in funding from the Victorian Government through the Growing Suburbs Fund.
