The theme this year is Our Backyard, celebrating the gatherings, games and gardens that are part of life in both private backyards and community parks.

What's in your backyard? Do you have a backyard? Come and hang out in Whittlesea's Backyard as the Community Festival celebrates our diversity and our community.

There are opportunities for creativity, participation and so much more including:

  • Performance opportunities for music, dance or other groups
  • Volunteering 
  • Bringing a devised installation to the event
  • Being a food or market stall vendor.

Getting to and from the Festival

Walking and cycling:

The Festival is only a 10 minute bike ride from Thomastown Station.

To see all off-road and on-road bike paths to the Festival, visit this webpage.

We'll also have free bicycle parking, a free on-site bicycle mechanic and free goodie bags from Whittlesea's Bicycle User Group (BUG).

Public transport:

A shuttle bus will run throughout the duration of the event, from Thomastown Station to the Festival.

Small shuttle buses are also operating from the parking at RGC Cook Reserve to the event site.

Drop-offs are available at all entry points.

Driving and parking:

Parking is available at RGC Cook Reserve, Robinvale Avenue, Thomastown.

Disability parking spaces will be available.


This event takes place in a reserve and pathways are made of crushed gravel and grass.

Electric scooters can be recharged at the information tent.
