Public transport services

State Government is responsible for public transport services. Council advocates on behalf of our residents to continually improve the provision of services.

Buses

Bus companies that service the City of Whittlesea include Dysons Bus Service and Reservoir Bus Company, who also operate as the East-West Bus Services.

The Grenda Bus Service and Dysons Bus Service together operate the 2 Smartbus services, routes 901 and 902.

The Victorian Government is responsible for the approval and funding of new bus services through the Department of Transport. It involves all the community when creating any new bus services.

Trains

Trains travel from Mernda through Lalor, Thomastown and Keon Park to the Melbourne Central Business District (CBD) on the South Morang line. Access the South Morang train timetable and line map.

An extension of this train line is planned from Lalor to Epping North and Wollert, as part of the VicUrban residential development called 'Aurora'. This extension depends on approval and available funding from the Victorian Government.

Trams

Trams currently run from Bundoora to the Melbourne CBD, starting at Plenty Road and ending at the Docklands precinct. Access the Bundoora tram timetable.

Subject to Victorian Government approval and funding, Council is seeking an extension of the Tram Route to South Morang.
