Creating a place for all in Mill Park
Published on 29 July 2025
A new framework that sets the path for future improvements and investment in Mill Park to create welcoming and well-connected spaces for all was endorsed at the Council Meeting on Tuesday 22 July.
The Mill Park Place Framework represents a shared vision between the community and Council and sets out long-term initiatives to improve the suburb while honouring the area’s unique qualities.
The priorities identified in the framework are a result of extensive community consultation and respond to Mill Parks strong local identity and diverse population. The insights and guidance from the consultation highlighted the importance the community places on safer streets and parks, improved walkability around schools and shops and places to connect.
In response, the framework includes initiatives to make Mill Park’s streets safer, improve local parks and public spaces, upgrade key destinations, and better connect green areas. A big focus is making it easier and safer to walk around schools and shops, which can also help reduce traffic over time and support welcoming community spaces.
As part of the development of the Mill Park Place Framework, Council worked with a community reference group, the Department of Transport and Planning, Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation and City of Whittlesea’s Youth Council to provide feedback and highlight opportunities.
The framework will help prioritise Council projects in Mill Park into the future, including advocating to the Victorian Government for improved transport services, major roads and more.
