Help shape the future of jobs, business and investment
Published on 26 May 2026
The City of Whittlesea is inviting residents, local businesses, workers and community members to help shape the future of the local economy, with community engagement on the draft Economic Growth Strategy 2026–2036, opening on 25 May.
The draft Strategy sets out a 10-year plan to strengthen the City’s economy by converting growth into more local jobs, attracting investment, strengthening local businesses and creating more vibrant centres for people who live, work and study in the City of Whittlesea.
As one of Australia’s fastest-growing municipalities, the City of Whittlesea is expected to continue growing significantly over the coming decades. The draft Strategy looks at how Council can support and leverage this growth by encouraging new businesses and industries, improving access to jobs and training, supporting local shopping and entertainment in our precincts, and helping create a strong and resilient local economy.
The draft Strategy has been informed by research, data, industry trends and earlier community and stakeholder feedback. This next phase of engagement allows the community to review the draft and help shape the final direction before it is presented to Council for endorsement later this year.
Feedback will help ensure the Strategy reflects local priorities, identifies opportunities for future growth and responds to the needs of residents, businesses and industry.
To view the draft strategy and have your say, visit the Economic Growth Strategy 2026–2036 page on the Engage website.
Engagement opens on 25 May and closes on 14 June.
