Morning Melodies - Positive Ageing Program

The City of Whittlesea’s 2026 Positive Ageing Program is underway, supporting residents aged 50 and over to stay active, healthy and socially connected.

The program offers a diverse range of fun, affordable activities, designed to sustain physical wellbeing, social connection and lifelong learning.

With welcoming and inclusive opportunities to suit all interests, backgrounds, genders, and abilities, residents aged 50 and over are encouraged to take part - whether you’re looking to keep active or explore a new hobby. While it may be a little out of our comfort zones to try something new, what resonates most with our older residents is the community created along the way and connecting with others in a similar stage of life.

Some of the programs on offer include:

  • Morning Melodies – a monthly music and entertainment program featuring heartwarming live performances to foster social connections and enjoyment
  • Lunch in a Bunch – a monthly lunch gathering at various restaurants, providing an opportunity for seniors to connect, socialise, and enjoy a shared meal
  • Know Your City Bus Tours – guided tours helping residents explore local landmarks, hidden gems, and community spaces within the City of Whittlesea
  • Social Connections Programs – a welcoming environment offering activities such as music, craft, and gardening to support social engagement and community participation
  • Social 10-Pin Bowling – a fun and low-impact physical activity encouraging social interaction and friendly competition
  • Walking Football – a walking football program offering older adults an entertaining way to stay active, enjoy some friendly competition, and connect with like-minded residents
  • Seniors Exercise Park – a specially designed outdoor space with fun, low-impact equipment to help improve strength, balance and mobility
  • Social Golf Program – a recreational golf program offering older adults a great way to connect and play a few rounds of golf.

The Positive Ageing Program is delivered through the Let Everyone Actively Participate (LEAP) initiative, which aims to optimise the wellbeing and inclusion of residents aged 50 and over. Programs also form part of the Social Connection and Centre Based Respite services for eligible residents aged over 65 (or 50 and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) under the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP).

LEAP membership is free and includes eligibility for discounted memberships at Thomastown Recreation and Aquatic Centre (TRAC) and Mill Park Leisure.
