Ashline Street render

About the project

The Ashline Street project is a housing initiative aimed at increasing access to safe, secure and appropriate housing for people in our community experiencing housing stress.

The project is being led by Beyond Housing, a registered community housing provider committed to delivering long‑term, high‑quality affordable homes for local residents.

The proposal includes the development of well‑designed homes that support a mix of household types and contribute to a stronger, more inclusive neighbourhood.

The project aligns with the City of Whittlesea’s ongoing commitment to expanding social and affordable housing options to meet growing community needs.

Further information about the project is available on Beyond Housing’s website.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

What is being built at 1F Ashline Street, Wollert?

The Ashline Street development will deliver high-quality, affordable homes to meet local housing needs and support a diverse, inclusive community.

It is designed to support individuals and families who need secure, long-term housing options.

Who will be eligible for these homes?

Council has identified key cohorts who will receive priority access:

  • Young families
  • Older people
  • Women (including those at risk of housing insecurity)
  • Key workers (such as teachers, healthcare staff, and emergency service workers)
  • People with disabilities.

Who gets priority for these homes?

Homes will be preferentially allocated to local residents or people with strong local connections. This means individuals who live, work, or have family ties in the City of Whittlesea area will be considered first.

Why is local priority important?

We want to ensure that the homes benefit the local community by helping residents stay connected to their jobs, schools and support networks. This approach strengthens community ties and reduces displacement.

How long will construction take?

Construction is scheduled to start in the coming months and is expected to take about 12 months to complete. The build will begin with two months of civil works, followed by construction of the homes, and will finish with the creation of a community park.

Will this impact the neighbourhood?

The builder has planned the works to minimise impacts on surrounding properties, including the nearby school.

Most tradespeople will park onsite, reducing pressure on street parking.

Beyond Housing and Council are working closely with the school to keep them informed and reduce disruptions, especially during drop-off and pick-up times.

How can I stay informed about what is happening?

Beyond Housing will provide quarterly updates to neighbours, sharing progress and any potential disruptions.

Information will also be available on the Beyond Housing website under What We Do > Projects Under Construction

The project team is committed to open communication and ensuring the community stays informed throughout the build.
