Project information

Tennis courts upgrade

Huskisson Reserve is home to the West Lalor Tennis Club, which has about 500 active members and is one the largest tennis clubs in the City of Whittlesea.

The club provides programs for juniors, men, women, people with disabilities, First Peoples and more than 700 children through a school partnership.

The redevelopment will help the West Lalor Tennis Club to attract new members and increase opportunities for community members to play via Tennis Australia’s book-a-court system.

The tennis court redevelopment will consist of two en-tout-cas courts, four clay courts, sports lighting and two acrylic pickleball/Hot Shots courts.

New multipurpose pavilion

The new community pavilion will consist of multipurpose spaces, a kitchen, meeting room, first aid room, change rooms and storage for club and community groups.

The pavilion will feature a number of sustainability features, including water tanks to save water, energy-efficient LED sports lighting, a solar photovoltaic system and double-glazed windows.

The new facility will provide Council and football and cricket clubs with a suitable overflow venue.

Car park upgrade

The upgrade to the car park will feature an asphalt extension, drainage, car park lighting, pedestrian walkways and landscaping works.

Funding

The City of Whittlesea is funding the $9.5 million project with the support of a $150,000 grant from the Victorian Government's Local Sports Infrastructure Fund for tennis and pickleball court lighting and $70,000 from the Community Sport and Recreation Grant for the West Lalor Tennis Club play space. The West Lalor Tennis Club is also making a $50,000 contribution.
