Lauries Field Master Plan

The master plan for Lauries Field provides direction for future improvements to this valued open space in Doreen.

The recommendations outlined in the plan will enhance the natural features of the park, improve safety and ensure an inclusive and distinctive reserve that provides a range of recreation, informal sport, and social opportunities for all to enjoy.

Implementation of the master plan recommendations is subject to future funding.

About the master plan

The Lauries Field Master Plan describes short, medium and long-term improvements proposed for the area. These upgrades will improve the functionality and accessibility of the reserve and create a welcoming and enjoyable space for all.

We developed the plan after listening to ideas and feedback from the community and stakeholders.

What the plan includes

The master plan includes a range of recommendations, including:

  • Improved walking paths to make it easier and safer to move around the park
  • New and improved play and activity spaces, including a sports court, fitness equipment and upgraded playground
  • Enhanced picnic areas, seating and shade
  • Improved lighting
  • Improvements to the health of the lake and protection of conservation areas
  • Upgraded crossings, entrances and signage to improve access
  • Car park reconfiguration to keep the same number of spaces while improving safety and open space
  • Careful vegetation management to improve visibility and safety
  • More native trees and plants to support local wildlife
  • Long-term tree planting and landscape improvements to keep the park green and healthy.
