Refugee Week
Refugee Week will be celebrated across the country from Sunday 14 June to Saturday 20 June 2026.
This year’s theme is One Million Stories. It marks a powerful milestone and recognises the million stories behind it - each one unique, each one powerful, and together shaping the Australia we all call home today.
The theme reminds us that this is about more than a number. Every person’s journey influences many others - families, future generations and communities - forming a rich and vibrant tapestry of cultures, experiences and contributions. It also invites us to reflect on how we can continue to welcome people seeking safety, show kindness, and create a stronger sense of belonging for all.
Each year, the City of Whittlesea proudly celebrates Refugee Week and welcomes people of diverse backgrounds who have come from around the world.
We invite everyone to be part of Refugee Week across our municipality - to share stories, connect with others, and celebrate the resilience, diversity and strength of our community.
