Person leading a small group discussion or workshop at a table while several adults listen and take notes in a meeting room.

Want to feel more confident applying for grants as an artist or creative? This hands-on, practical workshop is designed by artists, for artists, and breaks down grant-writing into clear, manageable steps.

You’ll be guided through simple tools and real-world examples to help you understand how grants work – and how to make your application stand out.

Whether you’re applying for your first grant or refining your approach, this session will give you practical skills you can use straight away.

In this workshop, you’ll learn how to:

  • find the right funding opportunities
  • check eligibility and understand what funders are really looking for
  • match your creative project to funding priorities
  • write a strong 50-word project grab
  • craft a compelling artist bio
  • confidently answer grant questions
  • build a clear and realistic project budget
  • prepare effective support material and attachments.

The workshop will reference City of Whittlesea Community Grants, as well as funding rounds from Creative Victoria and Creative Australia, making it especially useful for creatives working locally and beyond.
