Public Toilet Plan

Good public toilet provision supports active communities in their use and enjoyment of public places, improving active participation in recreational, social and commercial activity.

Conversely, a lack of accessible and inclusive public toilets can act as a barrier to the use of activity centres and parks, preventing some people, particularly more vulnerable members of community, from participating in civic life.

The Public Toilet Plan outlines a vision for public toilets in all areas of the municipality, supported by a set of guiding principles to manage the planning and delivery of new and upgraded public toilet facilities.

It includes detailed project selection criteria, a services hierarchy to inform what goes where, and a design toolkit to standardise and uphold quality outcomes that meet our community needs.

The plan is also supported by a series of priority items to improve the standard of public toilets and an action plan to inform Council’s future budget allocation for their provision.
