Kirrip Community Centre Library Hub

Project details

The City of Whittlesea will construct a library hub in the public community lounge of one of Wollert's most popular community facilities, Kirrip Community Centre.

Kirrip Library will include:

  • Wide range of books and other resources
  • Click and collect service
  • Self-checkout
  • Quiet study/work and collaboration areas
  • Private and group study/work areas
  • BYO device connectivity
  • Lounge seating
  • 24-hour book returns (even when the centre is closed)
  • Tea and coffee making facilities

The library will complement the existing services at Kirrip Community Centre, including the Maternal and Child Health Service and the Kirrip Kindergarten.

Children's books will be available close to these rooms to assist waiting families before MCH and kindergarten sessions.

Timeline

Construction will commence in early 2024, with the library expected to open in mid-2024.

Disruptions

The City of Whittlesea will endeavour to minimise disruptions to existing groups and bookings during construction. We will contact any booking that are directly affected.

Partners

Yarra Plenty Regional Library (YPRL) will manage the library services at Kirrip Library on behalf of the City of Whittlesea. YPRL staff will be on site part time to assist visitors with their library enquiries.

Address

Kirrip Community Centre is located at 135 De Rossi Boulevard, Wollert.
