Riverside Reserve redevelopment

Riverside Reserve in South Morang has been transformed into a modern and welcoming space for people of all ages to get active and connect with their community outdoors.

New playground proves a hit

The park and playground at Riverside Reserve in South Morang has undergone a massive $898,000 redevelopment.

The revitalised park was officially opened by City of Whittlesea Chair Administrator Lydia Wilson in October 2022.

The new playground features a range of attractions designed to appeal to children of all ages and abilities, including:

  • Junior embankment slide
  • See-saw
  • Swing set with junior and toddler seats
  • Standalone birds nest swing set
  • Inclusive roundabout/spinning carousel which can accommodate wheelchairs and up to six users at a time
  • Balance beams and tunnels
  • Large play tower with inclined rope play and tunnel slide
  • Monkey bars
  • 25m flying fox
  • Nature play area including vertical and horizontal log steppers, balance log runners and two log teepees
  • Basketball half court
  • Connected walking paths
  • A shelter, barbecue and picnic settings
  • New trees and landscaping

This project was made possible by a $598,000 contribution from the City of Whittlesea and a $300,000 grant from the Victorian Government's Parks Revitalisation Grants Program.
