Get ready to make a splash in Doreen

Get ready to make a splash in Doreen

Wednesday, April 17, 2024

Dive in and have your say on the splash-tastic concept plan for the new Hill Top Playground and Splash Park in Doreen. The upgraded park will feature three slides of different sizes to suit all ages, along with nature-inspired climbing and balancing fun, water jets, mist, and more to keep you cool and entertained all summer long.

Last year, the City of Whittlesea asked the community to help choose the ultimate play and water play experiences. The top voted elements feature in the concept plan. From slides to water arches, community input has shaped this plan.

Alongside the splash park and playground, the concept plan includes new public toilets, an extended car park, landscaping and new lighting.

City of Whittlesea Chair Administrator Lydia Wilson said Council was grateful for the community feedback that helped shape the plan.

“Thank you to our community who shared their favourite play and water play elements with us. We’re excited to share the concept plan with you that you helped create and find out if there’s anything we’ve missed before it gets finalised,” Lydia said.

“Hill Top Playground and Splash Park will be another exciting place in our community for families to enjoy, and we’re looking forward to seeing it come to life.”

Take a sneak peek at the concept plan and let us know if anything is missing. Visit engage.whittlesea.vic.gov.au/hilltopsplash to see the concept plan and have your say. Consultation closes on Wednesday 24 April.

Once Council has soaked up all your fantastic ideas, construction will kick off in October 2024, with the opening scheduled for July 2025.

This project will be delivered by the City of Whittlesea and supported by the Federal Government through the Investing in Our Communities Program, and the Victorian Government through the Better Parks and Playgrounds Program and the Community Support Fund.
