Grants continue to support community

More than $330,000 in community grants have been allocated to senior citizen groups, community groups, not-for-profit, sporting groups and individuals in the latest round of funding through the City of Whittlesea Community Grants Program.  

The Community Grants program offers grants to support the community deliver programs, activities and events as well as supporting individuals in leadership, creative arts, sports or environmental initiatives.  

Chair Administrator Lydia Wilson said the program provided important financial support to community to bring to life a range of activities and events. 

“We are thrilled to be able to support our community and those individuals and groups working hard to organise ways to bring people together to celebrate, learn and get involved,” said Lydia.  

“In this quarter, we are proud to have provided funding to 73 senior citizen groups totaling $271,116.45, as well as grants to four individuals and seven groups or organisations, with funding ranging from $200 - $12,500.” 

The following community groups and organisations have been awarded grants this quarter: 

  • Mill Park Football Association for new equipment 

  • Hunted the Interactive Horror Experience for Dark Lake - Origins 

  • Big Group Hug for pop up drop-off recycling of baby and children’s items 

  • SalamFest for Arts & Tails Unveiled and the Contemporary Muslim Festival 

  • Whittlesea Chinese Association for Chinese New Year 

  • Epping RSL Sub-Branch for ANZAC Day Dawn Service 

  • Victorian Tamil Association for a cultural event 

“We are excited to have so many community-led events and programs and we look forward to continuing to support our community through this ongoing grants program.” 

Applications for the next round of grants for medium and large groups is currently open and closes on 31 March 2024. Applications for small and individual grants are assessed monthly.
