Shedding light on home energy efficiency

Shedding light on home energy efficiency

Wednesday, April 24, 2024

Four new home energy audit kits are now available to help residents assess the energy efficiency of their homes.

The City of Whittlesea has supplied the kits to local libraries across the municipality, making it easy for people to check their energy usage and efficiency and make changes that will increase their home’s comfort, reduce their power bills, and minimise their emissions.

City of Whittlesea CEO Craig Lloyd says the kits will help locals make small changes that result in positive impacts.

“Our goal is to empower our community to make informed decisions about their energy usage and help them make changes that lead to more sustainable homes and cost-savings. With these kits freely and conveniently available to borrow through our local libraries, it’s easy for our community to take control of their energy efficiency," Craig said.

The kits contain equipment such as an infrared thermal imaging camera and Power-Mate Lite, which assesses the energy, cost and greenhouse gases emitted.

To borrow a home energy audit kit, visit your local Yarra Plenty Regional Library.
