Helping you to repair and save

Donnybrook local Helen Franks has high hopes for the Donnybrook Repair Corner, which launches on 2 March.

The Donnybrook Repair Corner follows on from the success of the Mernda Repair Café. It is supported by Council as part of the City of Whittlesea’s Rethinking Waste Plan. Local volunteers repair items including bikes, small electrical appliances, jewellery, clothing and tools.

“The waste reduction and financial benefits of not having to go out and buy a new toaster or garment will hopefully change the minds of residents to live more purposefully,” said Helen, its passionate Coordinator.

“This initiative will benefit the environment, not just through waste reduction in bins, but through the frequency of people booking hard-rubbish collections and also general dumping of rubbish in public places. I think there is a huge benefit for the community,” she said.

The Donnybrook Repair Corner takes place the first Saturday of every month 10am–2pm at Shared Space, 995 Donnybrook Road, Donnybrook. Visit Donnybrook Repair Corner - Whittlesea to learn more.
